Fallen Members

Welcome to the Calgary Police Association website….

This website serves the 1800+ strong members of the CPA. You are presently on the public side of the site. This portion of the site includes new photos and information for the CPA store, a brief description of the Board of Directors of the CPA and a link to our Fallen Members – those who have died while in the line of duty. Recently added to the site is the city of Calgary ‘City Beat’ and a link to new voting software. This voting software will allow the CPA to conduct periodic votes of our membership to gauge member opinion on different topics. The CPA Board of Directors assures all members that the integrity of any vote is paramount and voter anonymity is guaranteed.

The Calgary Police Association’s primary objectives are as follows:

  • Act as the primary collective bargaining unit under the Police Officers Collective Bargaining Act, to negotiate and administer collective agreements over wages and working conditions and to comply with the Act in terms of member representation that is not arbitrary, discriminatory or in bad faith.

  • To enhance the status of its members by bargaining for improved wages, working conditions and benefits;

  • To provide assistance to members investigated and/or charged in relation to disciplinary offences while engaged in their lawful duties as police officers;

  • To provide the membership with the highest quality of police association management and to build upon this objective through open communication, receptiveness and new ideas;

  • To work towards establishing a closer bond and encourage maximum cooperation in all matters of mutual interest between members of the Association;

  • To influence the criminal justice system by representing the interests of Association members and the citizens of Calgary through lobbying efforts at the municipal, provincial and federal levels;

  • To foster an environment of integrity, trust and mutual respect between its members and the citizens of Calgary.

  • The CPA actively pursues positive change for the employment and professional interests of its members, and defends those same interests. It sets clear objectives based on our role as a labor union and is creative and innovative in making and carrying out initiatives to achieve these goals.

    Through appropriate business processes and methods, the CPA seeks to operate effectively, efficiently and with impact. We at the CPA strive to conduct our objectives with prudent financial accounting.
