Saving our Members Money

During negotiations and finally arbitration of the 2014-2016 contract, the CPA put forward a request for the Service to pay for 500 hours which would be used to train our Board of Directors. This would be utilized for wage replacement when training our board, which better serves the members without burdening the operating budget, which saves our members money.


We were successful in arbitration and were awarded this on our contract, which reflected current practice with our closest police comparators. Since winning this award, the CPA and Service have disagreed on the implementation of this contractual award, and the Service has refused payment in certain circumstances. The CPA has proceeded to grievance and is now slated for arbitration in May of this year.
